Subject: Duke PAWS - Duke Promoting Animal Welfare through Service
Welcome to Duke PAWS! Duke PAWS (Promoting Animal Welfare Through Service) is a Duke student community service group organized to raise awareness on campus and in the community about the companion animal (cats, dogs, gerbils, etc.) population in Durham and educate the public on the importance of proper animal care. To achieve this end, we engage in service opportunities across Durham, including working with the Durham Animal Protection Society, Hope Animal Rescue, The Orange County shelter, Independent Animal Rescue, Coalition to Unchain Dogs, and other animal welfare organizations. We participate in fundraising and awareness events in the community and host our own events on campus including fundraisers and supply drives for students wanting to contribute using food points and available supplies on campus. If you'd like to get involved with Duke PAWS - and help animals and people through service - please email the co-presidents for the 2017-2018 academic year, Anne Harshbarger (anne.harshbarger@duke.edu) and Angela Wei (angela.wei@duke.edu)
