Subject: Duke Students for Humane Borders- Immigrant Advocacy Group

Description: Duke Students for a Humane Border is a newly formed student service
organization whose purpose is to educate and spread awareness on issues
concerning our nation's border with Mexico. We currently have six
main foci:

1. monthly film screenings pertaining to border issues. ex: the guest
worker, letters from the other side, crossing arizona

2. one fall and one spring art installation or presentation

3. bring speakers to campus. ex: john fife- leader during the 1980's
sanctuary movement, mike wilson- sole water provider in Tohono
O'odham indian nations, Gene Lefebrve- key founder in No More Deaths

4. publish a year publication highlighting immigrant voices at Duke

5. host a house course discussing the topic of undocumented immigration and
its effects on the United States

6. recruit duke students to volunteer for a week or more in Arizona
desert dispensing humanitarian aid with No More Deaths
