Subject: Duke Global Medical Brigades
Duke Global Medical Brigades This list is used to keep members of Duke Global Medical Brigades informed of events and happenings. DGMB will work in conjunction with Global Medical Brigades—a secular, international, student-operated volunteer organization whose mission is to provide sustained health care to underserved communities throughout the world. Along with affiliate groups at other distinguished universities, DGMB will serve to recruit student volunteers and medical professionals (doctors, nurses, residents, pharmacists, dentists) for travel overseas to provide medical assistance, manpower and medicine at Global Medical Brigades clinics. Our current emphasis is on the impoverished villages of Honduras, in collaboration with the highly regarded nonprofit organization, Sociedad de Amigos de los Ninos, led by Sister Maria Rosa Leggol, a recent nominee of the Nobel Peace Prize. Along with medical brigades, students will become involved with several community project that aim to better the quality of life in these areas.
