Disability Consciousness in Healthcare (DCH) is a scholarly, yet informal, gathering of health professional students, residents, administrators, faculty, and staff to discuss disability advocacy and awareness in healthcare as well as the resulting negative impacts of ableism on healthcare. DCH topics can include, but are not limited to: Disability Inclusion and Representation, Advocacy, Justice, Disability Studies Integration, Intersectionality, Accessibility, Accommodations, Education initiatives, Research/Scholarly ideas, and importantly, the institutional Culture of Anti-Ableism. Meetings are recorded. Established in April 2021, everyone is welcome: those who identified as disabled as well as allies. Sharing your personal disability-status related to topics discussed is always optional. Reach out to Dr. Lunsford if you would like to lead a discussion!
